Half the magic of a Christmas event... is walking in to a table set and a Christmassy vibe. So here's some (unsolicited) hosting advice for the big day!
Don't get caught with your pants down
Good Christmas playlist, candles and a drink in hand
You want people to feel relaxed right from the get go.
Tablescaping
Fancy word. Simple concept. Collect some foliage, candles and lay it on a nice table cloth. Add some height with glassware, ceramic vases and pitchers. On the plates add some greenery, a christmas ornament or hand written name cards.
Play it safe
Serve something tried and tested...think slow roasting, a couple of awesome sides and amazing bread. A colourful drinks station of bubbles, sparking water and a cocktail making spot with fresh garnish options should do the trick.
Take a load off
Dodge the stressy host vibe... the dishes can wait. Sit with your guests at every opportunity and soak it in.
Everyone will have a more enjoyable time if the host's relaxed - so don't sweat the small stuff and enjoy. You might not get to talk to everyone... but be fully present with who you're with. Listen, laugh and enjoy.
Happy Christmas from all here at Status Anxiety.
